Another nice trade into decent support.

In the video I mention about the guy saying he’s doing 3.5 points per day - and he’s an below average trader -thats PER contract.

Maybe someone with some exposure to some good traders can give me an idea what percentage of traders have this performance.

Dr. Brett can you help me on this. I have tested data inside and out on the ES. Is this a number below average traders do? Somehow I doubt it…..

A new trade setup I wanted to show you. Nice sweet setup as I was describing it live. If you guys see this setup on your charts and have questions send me a screenshot and I will help you out.

My back is still not 100%- maybe 45%. I hope I will be feeling better as the week wears on. Definitely one of the pitfalls of sitting in front of a monitor all day.

By the way John nice post on comparing full-time trading and a “real” job.

Today I am going to do a bit of training in the video. You have been asking for details - so tonight I will bring you a small sample of some of the things I look for when entering a trade.

In this video I walk you through some of the thoughts that go into my trading process.

I will be hosting my videos on blip.tv - they seem to have many of the features I have been looking for.

  • high quality playback
  • large screen capability
  • embedded advertisements
  • fast upload times
  • multiple formats

So if you see some glitches over the next few days drop me a line at thetradingdigest.com@gmail.com - I can certainly use the feedback.

Today’s trading day was disrupted by my internet service repeatedly being interrupted. Comcast now offers phone service in my area but when I went to the new modem it caused short duration internet outages. Un-effing-acceptable. So by the time I got back from the Comcast office and was back online it was 2:00 EST.

Todays trade was a breakeven minus costs. Enjoy the video. Under the video you will see options for fullscreen and the “select a format” - use fullscreen and source to get the best playback quality. I have already heard that a Mac user was having problems with the source. We will get these things resolved as I become acclimated to the new format.

Followed the plan for small winner. Ending of a very nice week.

Enjoy the spring like weather in the Northeast this weekend….

Have a Great Weekend!

Well this was an interesting one. I had a stop for -8 ticks and had a second entry for +5 ticks.

Go get em guys.

oh yeah disregard my inability to set target during second entry……i don’t know what I was smoking. For my standard non -video trades I use zerolinetrader - but for the video I want you guys to see all the decision making process, hence my clumsiness with the interface.

Small winner. I’ll take it.

Another nice long scalp before 10:00 - I very nice 11 point scalp on the YM. These videos sure are making me focus in on the best setups I see. Clearly that is being shown in the results.

Another nice trade from this morning garnering 13 YM points.

Keep it simple guys. It’s not the setup, it’s how you approach your trade. Slooooooow Down.

A nice scalp trade that nailed 9 YM (Dow) points. Nice way to end the week. What do you guys think, have you had enough of this setup and we should go on to the next? Or would you like to see more of this?

I could not find a darn setup I could get into today. In this video I decided to experiment with fullscreen recording. It appears to be too small for any sort of detail. I will have to revert back to my original setup with just the chart of what is being traded and the order entry system. Please leave comments as to your feelings on the videos. Maybe you could help me improve these in some way.

Live Trade 04/11/07

Todays live trade was a one tick winner. I typically like to avoid days where the Fed is involved in any way but I liked this setup.

In this video you will hear me berate whiners and those that think the market owes them rationality. For those that are analytical in your trading this is not directed to you. For those that are not- it is.

Enjoy

Live Trade 04/03/07

I uploaded todays trade. Nothing too special. This is 9 out of 10 winners. Certainly plays into the theory of picking one high quality setup per day. If you get good at that then move on to more discretion. Always let the trade make it’s case to you. Not the other way around.

Interesting trade for your review from today. I actually made a boo-boo after entering the trade. Instead of just left clicking to set my profit target I right clicked….opps that does a market order exit. I immediately re-entered the position and traded on from there and took my 5 tick profit.

But heres the thing - that mistake cost me a tick. And in scalping making mistakes like that will not fly. I am almost always automatic when doing this stuff normally but bringing in the screen recording and having to discuss the trade cost me 25 bucks today. Small in the big picture but definitely something that I will not let happen again.

One of the things I take quite seriously when I am trading the E-minis during the day is that I try to maintain absolute focus and remain calm and steady. I have actually received emails from people saying that my voice is boring during the videos. I am glad to hear that because that is exactly what my trading should be like - boring and machine like. So when I was a little ticked in this video it reminded me of a video I had saw some time back on another blog.

In that video you will see what a disorganized, confused, and emotional trader looks like. If you ever find yourself feeling or acting like the guy in this video, just walk away. Take the afternoon off. As to what strategy he is employing, I won’t even venture to say. But the video is quite funny. Watch it till the end

Here is the video from the trade I recorded today. I saw the semi’s leading and was waiting for a pullback into my keltners.

Live Trade 03/29/07

Here is another live e-mini trade for your review. In yesterdays video I took a 3 tick (0.75) loss but the video when uploaded would not play. I wish you had a chance to see it because I have not had a losing trade yet and it incorporated the adjustment of the stoploss to a tighter level that I have mentioned previously.

Todays trade was iffy. Things were moving kind of wildly at the time and it actually occurred at the consolidation point at the low of the day. Either way it ended well and off we go to tomorrow.

I also mentioned in my post the other day about diversification, that I had a follow up coming. I am not going to do that tonight but I may be able to get that done tomorrow morning or during the quiet time of tomorrows market.

As a quick swing trade note I see an opportunity in some of the transports. With oil surging, the conventional wisdom is to bail on these. I would like to see a pop through todays lows to get long some select names like JBHT and RYAAY in anticipation of a possible easing in the Iranian issue. Hold no longer than 10 days or closing above a 2 day high.

Another trade I recorded this morning. Comments? Love to hear them.

Another trade for you review. I had some problems with publishing in movie mode on Jumpcut. But here is the raw clip with out titles and the bells and whistles..

This is 6 straight winners on my one trade per day video. Check it out.

If you click on the Jumpcut logo in the lower right of the video it brings you to the Jumpcut page where you can click (under video) to make the video full size if the size is too small for you.

I have been trying different codecs for saving the screen recordings and Fridays made the video perfect. Problem is audio was not synched. But I believe you’ll see what I was doing clearly enough. Let’s see how Mondays comes out.

Another winner by the way…..

Here is the second screen recording of an actual trade setup I came across on Friday. I am going to continue to record these. I think for now I will stick to this setup. I will probably just pick one per day and record it. I will take the best setup I see and you will eventually see how I deal with different scenarios as they occur in real time. The audio in this is not great but I think I have put together some tools this weekend that will make the recordings of higher quality as we move forward. Eventually I may just move these screen recordings to a seperate page of their own.

Have a Great Week!

More than anything else people seem to be enamored with the intraday setup. I recorded a trade I made today and thought you guys might like to see it happen live. It’s a setup that occurs a couple times a day when the markets have some sort of trending action going on. I filter these with some simple technical anaysis of support/resistence, time of day, and how the market “feels”.
